A virtual restaurant lives entirely online. Customers can't walk past it, so they meet you through a delivery app, a social post, a Google search or a friend's link. That makes your online setup the whole storefront.
1. Get the basics consistent
Pick one brand name and use it everywhere: delivery apps, Instagram, your website and your packaging. List the hours you actually accept orders, and the area you deliver to.
2. Build a simple website with a real menu
Your site doesn't need to be big. It needs a fast, mobile-friendly menu in text (not just a photo or PDF), clear prices, your ordering hours and delivery area, and an obvious "Order now" button. Our list of restaurant website must-haves covers the details.
3. Add direct online ordering
Delivery apps are useful for being discovered, but they charge commissions on each order. Direct ordering on your own site keeps more of each sale for repeat customers. See restaurant online ordering without third-party app fees.
4. Understand the Google listing rules
Google Business Profile is built for businesses that meet customers in person, at a location or at the customer's address. Delivery-only brands have specific rules, so check Google's current guidelines before you create a listing. If you share a kitchen with a dine-in restaurant, don't create a second profile at that address unless the guidelines allow it for your setup.
5. Turn first-time app customers into regulars
- Put an order-direct card or sticker with your website in every bag.
- Collect emails or phone numbers with permission when people order direct.
- Post your specials on social media with a link straight to your ordering page.
6. Ask for reviews the right way
Reviews build trust when people can't visit. Ask every customer, never offer something in exchange, and reply to every review. See Google's review policy for businesses.
